Privacy Policy

A quiet record of what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can ask us about it.

Who we are

Day and You is a small handmade jewellery studio. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you browse our website, place an order, create an account, join our mailing list, or contact us.

We write this policy in plain language and with Australian privacy expectations in mind, including transparency, limited collection, security, access, correction, and complaint handling. If a stronger privacy law applies to your location, we aim to respect that standard where it applies to your order.

Information we collect

We collect the information needed to run the store: your name, email address, shipping address, order details, account details, contact form messages, and any personalisation choices you provide for a piece.

We may also receive technical information such as IP address, device information, browser type, pages visited, and approximate location from cookies, analytics, security tools, or hosting logs.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information such as health information, government identifiers, political opinions, religious beliefs, or biometric information. Please do not include sensitive information in personalisation notes or contact messages.

How we use it

We use personal information to process orders, arrange shipping, provide customer support, manage accounts, prevent fraud and misuse, improve the website, send service messages, and keep records required for tax, accounting, legal, and business purposes.

If you subscribe to marketing emails, we use your email address to send brand updates, product releases, and offers. You can unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time. Transactional messages about orders, accounts, security, and support may still be sent when needed.

Payments and service providers

Payments are processed by Stripe. Day and You does not store full card numbers. Stripe may collect and process payment information under its own privacy and security terms.

We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate the store, including payment processing, shipping, email delivery, hosting, database storage, analytics, security, and customer support tools. We only share what is reasonably needed for those services.

Some providers may process or store information outside your country. Where cross-border handling applies, we take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and protect the information according to applicable privacy obligations.

Storage and security

We keep personal information in secure business systems and restrict access to people and providers who need it to perform their work. No online system is perfect, but we use practical safeguards such as access controls, encrypted connections, protected admin access, and trusted infrastructure providers.

We keep order and account records for as long as reasonably needed for customer service, legal, tax, fraud-prevention, and business record purposes. Contact messages are kept while we need them to respond and maintain a support history, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

Your choices and rights

You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. In some cases, we may need to keep certain records for legal, security, or legitimate business reasons.

You may also ask questions or make a privacy complaint. We will review the request and respond within a reasonable time. If you are in Australia and are not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy as the store, laws, or service providers change. The latest version will be published on this page with the updated date above.
